Our story
Our story
Many times, there are no daycare centers (crèches) at construction sites. As a result, while parents are at work, older children are often responsible for taking care of their younger siblings, which can affect their safety and well-being. Due to these challenges, as well as other circumstances, children at construction sites are often deprived of education. Unknowingly, they are kept away from books and learning, which increases illiteracy. Education and safety are fundamental rights of these children, and they must receive them. It is the responsibility of every citizen to ensure this. With this in mind, Akshar Paaul started operating LearnCare centers directly at the construction sites for these children. However, the organization’s primary goal is not just to run schools at construction sites, but to bring these children into the mainstream education system.
For children who cannot reach the school, we bring the school to their doorsteps. With this thought, we started the LearnCare Center at construction sites. Alongside this, many children in urban Community(slums) are enrolled in schools but struggle with reading. They face difficulties such as stammering, reading without understanding, or lacking the joy of reading. If children cannot read properly, they will face many obstacles in their education and may not be able to express their thoughts. Therefore, reading is a crucial skill. To ensure that children develop strong reading skills and cultivate a love for reading, the organization has initiated the Smiling Books Library to work on improving children's literacy.
Under the RTE (Right to Education) Act, every child must be granted their right to learn. With this objective, Akshar Paaul was founded in 16 March 2013 by Founder and President Mr. Nagesh Alkunte. Along with him, Co-founders Mr. Uday Shinde, Mr. Sopan Paygude, and Mr. Manoj Pawar played an important role in the establishment of the organization. Akshar Paaul's work spans the entire state of Maharashtra, with initial efforts starting in the regions of Pune, Nashik, and Satara.
The primary goal of Akshar Paaul is to help underprivileged children's parents enroll their children in schools and provide them with educational opportunities at construction sites.
Once these children are brought into the mainstream education system, Akshar Paaul continues to work tirelessly to keep them in school and reduce dropout rates.
To ensure that migrant children receive proper and formal education, Akshar Paaul, with the support of builders, has made special efforts to start schools at construction sites.
Akshar Paaul does not charge any fees for the education, extracurricular activities, or the schools at these sites. All education is provided to the children free of charge.
With the help of volunteers and teachers, various educational and co-curricular activities are organized for these children, which help them develop and grow in the right direction.
The Motive is not to tell, but to Strengthen the children of the Society.
